Advances In Dental Technology

Surgically Clean Air

Surgically Clean Air is a medical grade air purification system used by hospitals, medical labs, surgery centres and many professional sports teams including our hometown champions, the Toronto Raptors. For years, we along with our patients have enjoyed the benefits of Surgically Clean Air in every treatment room throughout our facility and continue to be vigilant that we are doing everything we can to protect our patients and staff through public health challenges such as SARS, MERS and more recently, COVID-19.

High Speed Digital X-Rays

Digital radiographs or ‘x-rays’ are used for the routine diagnosis of dental disease & abnormalities and to monitor the growth patterns in children & teens. The digital x-ray technology we use at 88 Finch East Dental Centre is ‘high speed’, producing just a fraction of the radiation emitted by older x-ray technology. A standard set of dental xrays exposes you to approximately the same amount of radiation you would experience from a day in the sun or 2 hours on an airplane.

Digital Impressions & Scanning

Digital scanning is more comfortable for patients and gives our team the ability to see an ‘impression’ on a chairside screen immediately after it is taken and to magnify it to examine every aspect in detail. In addition to being much faster than a conventional impression, this process virtually guarantees that our dental lab will receive the complete and accurate information required to fabricate beautiful crown & bridge work and to ensure an effective fit for clear aligners.

Cone Beam 3D Imaging

Cone Beam Computed Tomography or ‘CBCT’ is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. We can use this technology in a single scan to produce three dimensional (3D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, bone and nerve pathways that allow us to plan the placement of dental implants and to evaluate TMJ/skeletal abnormalities, airway issues and to measure/monitor pathology such as dental tumours.

Diode Soft Tissue Lasers

Dental diode laser treatment is a minimally invasive technology that we use in our office most often to perform minor gum surgeries and for the removal of soft tissue pathology. Soft tissue lasers can further be used for relieving tongue ties, lengthening crowns, cosmetic reshaping of gum tissue or for removing folds of tissue caused by denture friction.
